Good value for the Walmart price
Relatively easy to assemble. Serves well for it's price and intended purpose, as a locking cabinet. Light weight and easily moved. Packaging was not really adequate to prevent a few dings in the sheet metal.Write a Review
I saved up for a long time to get this safe, and the lock broke (internaly) and I had my guns in there. Ifinally got it open and my guns are all scratched up. WORST INVESTMENT EVER.Write a Review
good for the money
Delivery was fast. It was packaged well and undamaged in shipping. Easy to assemble, follow the instructions and you will be fine. You have to remember what you are buying, it's not a 500 pound fire-proof safe. I'm happy with the purchase.Write a Review
It works great because I have a small house and it doesnt take much room. It was easy to put together. The shelf was alittle small but i didnt pay that much for it. Overall works great.Write a Review
Assembly went fine up until I went to install the lock. I followed all of the instructions to the letter, but the lock I was given rotates 90 degrees in THE WRONG DIRECTION.Write a Review
Works for me
Got this cabinet about a year ago assembley was just ok. The lock was broken when it arrived but stack-on took care of that right away. I was very happy with customer service. good value for the price.Write a Review
Searched for gun storage cabinets and this came highly recommended. Didn't need large or fireproof, and the assembly was easy. For a simple safe storage of multiple weapons, this is a great value. Although it's shipping weight is heavy, it does need to be bolted in place to be secure. Assembly was easy, just need a bit of room to twist and turn, but the sheet metal sides and ends aligned and all the bolts etc were easily recognized and installed. Note, Walmart will ship this to your house at no extra charge. Didn't even have to go pick it up. Ordered it on Thursday, arrived Saturday. Can't garantee that you'll have the same service, but WOW.Write a Review
Plusses & minuses
I have Model 908 and a pistol/ammo cabinet mounted on top. This has worked very well for a decade now. I received another rifle and a shotgun and decided since my 8 gun Model 908 had 10 rifles in it I would buy another set, one of each. Unfortunately, even though I very fully explored both the Model 908 and Model 8RTA and rejected the 8RTA after reading the reviews, I ended up with an 8RTA 8 gun cabinet and a pistol/ammo cabinet for the wider Model 908 cabinet. Although I was not happy one bit at this turn of events, I do get to compare the two models. First off, neither is a secure gun safe. Both can be breached by a determined intruder. Made more easy if they have access to your power tools. Both do provide the simple level of security that will keep an 'Honest man' out, much like car door locks, and keep the inquisitive searching of youngsters a bay, provided you secure the keys. I think the Model 908 is more rigid, stouter, heavier and a better constructed unit. It is also more expensive, more difficult to move, and a little bigger. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Assembly of the 8RTA was not a problem and only took a few hours. I found the 8RTA was easier to move into position in the house than the 908, so I deemed this pretty much a trade off. If I ever move into a smaller, or multi-level house, I can certainly see where the 8RTA has distinct advantages. Being slightly smaller, the 8RTA does not hold as much as the 908, but does hold 8 rifles. The self in the 908 is bigger, but I really do not use them for much more that holding a few magazines for the rifles. The trade off I see is a little less miscellaneous storage space for a more compact size. Bottom line is I find both the Model 908 and the Model 8RTA do the job I want, which is store my rifles/shotguns out of sight under lock and key. I find either of the cabinets acceptable for that purpose and would recommend either for the price bracket they are in.Write a Review
Nice security cabinet
Great price, came well-packaged and intact from online Walmart order. Fun assembly project went up flawlessly and I bolted it to the footers. It did a superb job of keeping my guns safe from my kids and their curious kids. Unfortunately we did have a break-in and some thieves forced the door open with a pry-bar. I'll be upgrading to a real safe immediately.Write a Review
Great Price - Good Cabinet - Lock is Junk
Got this for $129 and shipped to my local Home Depot for free. Assembly was easy, all the holes lined up. The cabinet is solid and will do the job to keep you legal. The lock on the other hand is junk, it completely fell apart on first use. I'm glad my guns weren't locked in it. I need to find an aftermarket replacement that's reliable. Great price, good cabinet, bad lock.Write a Review
